NDEM Student Internship Opportunity

The Division of Emergency Management / Homeland Security's (NDEM) Student Internship Program provides students with a unique opportunity to apply classroom skills and theory to real-life work situations. This hands-on program is designed to strengthen fundamental emergency management concepts and develop the confidence and skills of the next generation to prepare them for future employment opportunities.

Responsibilities

Work with a Northern or Southern Nevada Site Supervisor to assist NDEM in coordinating the prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery programs and resources through partnerships to build resilient communities for Nevada’s residents and visitors.

  • Attend meetings with internal and external partners
  • Assist with development and execution of Preparedness, Planning, Logistics, Grants and Mitigation, Response and Recovery Programs
  • Assist with development and execution of Training and Exercises
  • Event and outreach planning support
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • This position is unpaid and requires the minimum hours needed for program of study credit  
  • High school or college student (students under 18 need parental consent on application)   
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to the successful completion   
  • Professional appearance and demeanor   
  • Must be a US citizen or legally authorized to work in the US
