Regional Integrated Preparedness Symposium (RIPS)

Overview

The Regional Integrated Preparedness Symposium (RIPS) is an annual series of three workshops held across Nevada’s regions from September to October, bringing together stakeholders to assess and enhance statewide preparedness. These workshops focus on conducting the Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA), Stakeholder Preparedness Review (SPR), and Integrated Preparedness Planning Workshop (IPPW).

The results from RIPS play a critical role in guiding Senior Leadership as they establish program priorities for the next three to five years, shaping preparedness efforts in planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercises. These priorities help drive funding decisions for the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) and other applicable grants.
Following RIPS, the Integrated Preparedness Plan (IPP) is finalized by the Preparedness and Grants Working Group and submitted to FEMA by the end of January, ensuring a coordinated and strategic approach to Nevada’s emergency management initiatives.
